Passing the attractive bars and restaurants of St Jean and the port filled with sleek yachts and families on the sandy beach, the chauffeur turns up the private road to Villa Oasis. Ahead of you are tiers of terraces, screens of glass, and a tricolour of white walls, cobalt sky and pine green trees. There are over 4,500 sq. m (48,600 sq. ft.) of gardens. Lavender-lined pathways provide panoramic views over the peninsula and a cornucopia of flowers bursts through rockery walls. Olive, cypress and eucalyptus trees give shape and shade; jasmine, rosemary and jacaranda perfume the entire estate.

From a vantage point of a hundred metres, the rooftop terrace has an infinity pool with staggering views of the entire east-west meridian situated on the roof terrace. Located on the west coast of Phuket, Villa Malia lies in a secluded position that provides guests with the utmost intimacy. However, one of the most beautiful beaches, Kalim beach, is just a few minutes’ drive from the villa. The infinity swimming pool, centrally located, faces the lush green gardens and the mesmerizing sea beyond. Right next to the pool, there is a dining area with a built-in barbecue and an open-air pavilion.

The villa’s main entrance is situated on the top floor at the back of the property and guests step into a small foyer before descending the open staircase to the majestic living area and its breath-taking vaulted ceilings. The design of the rooms has been thought out so as to make the most of the stunning views; therefore, all of the bedrooms have access to the terrace. With its sliding glass doors, the villa can be either opened to the sea breezes or closed and chilled to guests’ satisfaction.

All of the four bedrooms offer breath-taking views over the Adaman Sea. Two of the bedrooms are en suite and the other two share both a bathroom and the terrace. At the end of the corridor, the master bedroom features a king-sized bed and a Jacuzzi, located on the terrace perfect for stargazing. Other bedrooms include a twin for the children (sharing a bathroom with the king-sized bedroom next door), and two more king-sized guest rooms. In its heyday in the 19^th Century, “Huis Tjitrap” in Java was a place where many visitors enjoyed the famous hospitality of Majoor Jantje. In the surroundings of Citeureup, south of Jakarta, the house was well known for its beauty and its social gatherings.

A statement stone dining table has room for twelve, and the fully equipped kitchen has a spacious breakfast bar.
